If you are wondering why we're doing this $10 Challenge, see how Pastor Matt has challenged us to create a moment with someone else.

There’s a woman at work who has been working late and hours just to help myself and my team. She’s done this all through losing her mother and her dog. I knew she was hurting so I paid the $10 for a gratitude board to be made for her and I got my team to all write her a note of thanks on it. I decided that using the $10 was great, but we went a step further and bought her and her husband steak dinners. She said it all meant so much to her she started crying.

After the message I went home and asked the Lord for guidance. The Holy Spirit directed me immediately to the Crisis in Ukraine. I donated the money and added some to Samaritan’s Purse. I believe this was the perfect time for Pastor Matt’s message. Here is the response I got from them.
Thank you for your gift to Samaritan’s Purse. We greatly appreciate your support as we work worldwide to provide physical and spiritual aid to suffering people in the Name of Jesus Christ. Your generosity will enable us to continue sharing the love of Christ and the hope of the Gospel. Thank you again, and may God bless you.

I matched the 10 dollars and added the total to our normal tip at a restaurant. It wasn’t a large bill so it almost doubled the bill. I wrote a note on the bill and have been praying for her. From conversations it didn’t appear that she was a Christian.
As Matt has said in the series people are watching. One divide in society is between service workers who actual have to go to work and many who get to work from home. As Christian are we going to grumble about how long it takes to get a seat / get your food or are we going to show the world that we are different by sharing Gods love with others in many different ways.

My husband and I have kept in touch with the young couple who bought our home in November. They are a great couple and had a sweet baby girl this past week. We decided to give them a door dash gift card and a couple baby things. It’s been a blessing to keep up with them and watch them make the house their home!!

Today I was able to share God’s love with a new young waitress on her first job in Spartanburg PA.. Many things went wrong with my order and must admit I was getting frustrated. I might be late late for a meeting. All of a sudden God reminded me of the challenge and was able to share the challenge gift with this young woman. She was sooo thankful and blessed by the gift as her smile and beautiful eyes just shone. But ohhhh how my heart ❤ was filled.

I will start by saying that I missed church last week because I wasn’t feeling well, but after listening to the message online and learning about the challenge, I was inspired to reach out to someone I have never actually met before that suffered a terrible loss recently through a house fire to offer some financial support and prayer! What an amazing challenge to help us not only consider our blessings, but look for ways to bless others!

My husband and I donated our $10 (plus some) to a 7th grade student who needed new clothes. : )

I was really struggling to figure out who I could assist in this challenge. I just couldn’t find an experience that felt quite right. I had been praying about it, then Wednesday night on my way home from work I was given one more service call to go on. I was met by an elderly woman who was down on her luck with countless home repairs, most of which we don’t deal with at our company. Even despite the needs she had, she maintained a bright and strong outlook. One item she needs done is a kitchen faucet replaced. I realized then that this could be that opportunity. I told her I would replace her faucet on my time at a separate occasion and it wouldn’t be tied to our company. She said she could provide the new faucet, and I told her there’d be no charge to put it in. Though she doesn’t have much family around and has multiple house needs, her bright and strong personality inspired me. I’m looking forward to helping her out and hopefully being a small picture of God’s love.

I waited all week for God to put in my heart the right thing to do for my $10 challenge. I loved the challenge but I have to admit throughout the week I was very frustrated because I couldn’t find the right person to give this money to. Until Friday night when I went out with some friends and we got it and Uber. I gave my $10 to the Uber driver who drove us over an hour and a half through the snow when bad weather. The entire time I felt completely safe. During the ride it came to me to give him an extra tip for him doing a good deed and taking care of me and my friends. I feel God knows why he was out on the roads to be able to safely take us home and why I felt in my heart he needed the extra $10 on top of his tip.

My children and I decided to hand out “Gift from Heaven” cards. Even my youngest children (6&3) wanted to participate. We chose cards that simply said ” You are never alone with God by your side”. We added the $10 to the cards and wrote “Gift from Heaven” on the envelopes. Everyone got to personally hand their card to a random person, who they felt needed it. There were many thanks and a few tears.
This was truly an experience my family will never forget. And it is one my children have asked to repeat soon.

This year Shon moved to Portersville Christian Academy which has proven to be a blessing. The school relies on donations to supply the teachers and staff with bonuses. We were truly inspired by the ten dollar challenge and were able to give a little bit more and hopefully bring a smile to PCA. We are truly grateful for Grace and the work Gid is doing.

I was driving to work and there was an older small framed woman wearing a uniform and carrying a large bag in each arm. The bags looked so heavy. My heart was wrenching because I know its not safe to pick up strangers. I drove past but couldn’t shake that I was supposed to help this woman. I got to the red light and it was point of no return. Turn around and help this woman or get on 376 to work. I turned around. I had a $10 bill in my bag that God needed me to deliver. I was able to find the woman and pulled to the side of the road. I asked her if she needed a ride and she got in. She kept thanking me saying she was so hot today and she had worked over night. She had a beautiful accent and I found out she was from South Africa. We drove to her house which was less than 5 minutes away by vehicle, but with the traffic and the location would have taken so much longer by foot. When we got to her home and she got out, I gave her the $10.00 and told her it was from my church. She took the $10.00 and looked at me, and with joy in her eyes said ” You have no idea how far this will go. I support 7 orphans in South Africa and this will buy so much rice for them.” I’m in complete awe of how following Gods nudge could lead to this. I’m not going to stop there. I’m going to use every resource I can to help this woman on her journey.
Grace, thank you for taking this leap of faith. I’m forever changed.

With the blessing of being able to help others, I decided to donate to a couple financially as they are recovering from a late-stage miscarriage following years of infertility. It was such a blessing to be able to spread the word of Jesus and to not loose sight of him, especially in difficult times.

Matt, I took your $10 challenge seriously and prayed asking who can I be there for? I’m a strong believer in giving back to the veterans that serve for us. After going down multiple dead ends. Then the Veterans Leadership Program gave me a family in need. I took the $10 went to Aldi‘s and purchased pasta, spaghetti sauce, Parmesan cheese and a loaf of bread ($10.49). I went to Goodwill and bought a $4.50 ceramic bowl to serve it in. I cooked a spaghetti dinner for this Vietnamese family who the father is in Mississippi for the next 3 months training in the US military service. In this small house in McKees Rocks they opened their home for me to sit down and visit them. They told me about all about their lives. There was two grandparents raising three beautiful kids (8,7,3 year old). The children’s mother wasn’t there, she was working at a nail salon to help support the family. I got a chance to spend time with the grandfather and the eight-year-old son for about 45 minutes. The three-year-old girl loved playing with me giggling and laughing. She was blowing me kisses and waving bye to me when I left. The $10 not only bought them dinner for 10 people that night but there was enough uncooked for another meal for this family. Thank you Matt for this challenge. I know this touched this family in a big way and I felt blessed to met, spend time with and help them. The funny thing is originally I thought there was another person that God put in my path this week. He was going through a family crisis and I thought God put him in my path to bring him the dinner. He was actually was fine for meals but just needed a person to talk to. So I slowing down and really spending time connecting to him this week. This $10 challenge ended up helping out two families and all honestly I felt that I was blessed more than they were.

My dear friend is struggling with the heartache of dealing with her beloved dog’s final days. As a dog owner/lover myself, my heart aches for her. I took a picture of her dog, had it enlarged, framed it and along with a card expressing my care and love for her and her dog, presented it as a keepsake to her and her husband.

A young girl who works weekends at a local restaurant supports herself as a full time student at Pitt. After overhearing her talk about struggling to fill her gas tank and work her two jobs, I approached her towards the end of the day and asked her if $10 would make a huge difference to her day. With tears immediately filling her eyes, I pulled out my envelope received last Saturday at church. I explained where it came from and reminded her how much God has her under his wings. After that encounter I realized how much more I also needed to surrender my life, and finances over to God. The act of giving returned to me a stronger relationship of trust with God, and encouraged to pursue that relationship with Him even further. Such an amazing experience, and cannot thank Grace for allowing me to participate in such a divine exchange.
